FATHERLESS MEN: Why dads can't let go of their inner child
(www.DaddyBlogging.com) - On the surface, you want to cheer for Che "Rhymefest" Smith, who won a Grammy for co-writing Kanye West's "Jesus Walks" and an Oscar for writing "Glory" that took the movie, "Selma" to new heights. But, then reality hits and things get tough.
Although often billed as a "good guy" and "hard worker," Rhymefest has been hiding a secret from his adoring fans: He refuses to pay child support for his daughter and now that he's famous is demanding a paternity test, which likely makes his child feel unloved and unwanted. It's hard to make much of an argument for a guy like that.
Luckily for Rhymefest, the documentary "In My Father's House" does more than label him a child supporter dodger. The issue of fatherless children is raised in a profound, universally understandable way. Men everywhere of every hue and every socio-economic background will find themselves relating this gritty, but necessary documentary.
Available in 20 AMC movie theaters across America.

MOVIE REVIEW: "No Escape" pushes the daddy envelope
(www.DaddyBlogging.com) - "No Escape" is a hot new movie starring funnyman Owen Wilson (Wedding Crashers), Pierce Bronson (James Bond) and Lake Bell as the stressed out dad feels the weight of the world on his shoulders and can't seem to help his wife who thinks she sis at the end of her rope. The parents soon find out what dads are really made of.
This movie will require moms in the audience to put on the "big girl panties" as they watch a dad in distress snap into action to save his family. Dads - this is the movie you're been waiting for. It shows all the guts and glory that dads endure on a daily basis.
"No Escape" makes WWE seem like a love fest at church. It's almost unbearable at some points, but don't walk out and try not to cover your eyes. The scariest part of this thriller is that it is a daily reality for so many parents world wide.
In this gritty, over-the-top intense movie, viewers cannot be prepared for the action that is packed into this independent film directed by John Erick Dowdle, an American family which has recently moved overseas soon finds themselves caught in the middle of a political nightmare.
Even dads in the audience couldn't keep their composure during the one hour, 43 minute movie which goes by so quickly it's like being hit by a semi truck. You'll definitely feel this one mind, body and soul. There really is no escaping it.In this gritty, , viewers cannot be prepared for the action that is packed into this independent film directed by John Erick Dowdle, an American family which has recently moved overseas soon finds themselves caught in the middle of a political nightmare.

EVENT RECAP: Paul Rudd debuts ANT-MAN
(www.DaddyBlogging.com) - July 16-18, 2015 should have been called "PAUL RUDD and ANT-MAN" weekend. New York City was over the top excited about the movie that topped the box office with $58 million!

First up, a few dad bloggers attended the private chat with Paul Rudd at the SoHo Apple Store. From there, dads everywhere flocked to movie theaters to see Ant-Man on the big screen.
"Ant-Man," starring Paul Rudd as a slightly more irreverent and distinctly smaller superhero, came in a little below earlier stand-alone Marvel films like "Thor" ($65.7 million in 2011) and "Captain America: The First Avenger" ($65.1 million in 2011).
"Most encouragingly in this one, the exit scores we're seeing from women — their likelihood to recommend and how much they enjoyed the film — was higher here than almost any film we've had," Hollis said.
"It's a great sign for what word of mouth should be for the run, but, two, what it means for how women think about these movies being for them as much as men might."

The result for "Ant-Man" didn't match some of Marvel's better known and brawnier properties. But "Ant-Man" — a relatively inexpensive superhero movie with a $130 million budget — still dominated North American multiplexes, edging out the little yellow guys of Universal's "Minions," which took in $50.2 million in its second week.

Dave Hollis, head of distribution at Disney, credited Marvel for successfully expanding its universe both in tone and audience makeup. The movie, a more humorous heist film, appealed more to women (42 percent of the audience) and families (28 percent) than most Marvel releases.

EVENT RECAP: Pixels movie premiere in NYC
| Rapper/dad Waka Flaka Flame looked dapper in his suit at the NYC Premiere July 18, 2015 |
Comedians Adam Sandler - in his trademark ultra casual manner - showed his age a little bit while Affion Crocke kept the crowd laughing with their antics.
One of the crow favorites was Kiyan Anthony, son of La La and Carmelo. He's already holding down modeling contracts and growing like a weed proving it's always fun to bring your kids to work.
EVENT RECAP: Dad bloggers at BlogHer15 with Nick Cannon
It was also a good time for dad bloggers to get an up close glimpse of some of the sexiest mom bloggers on the planet. Actress Gwyneth Paltrow, who looked super hot, talked about her blog property, GOOP. She was funny and gorgeous. That's pretty much all we remember but look at her. It's hard to pay much attention, right!? Although she knocked down any possibility of directing Marvel's new movie, BLACK PANTHER, director Ava DuVernay managed to "give the scoop" to the audience and a few things that Marvel-lovers like us didn't quite appreciate. Who does she think she is, anyway, knocking Marvel - no matter how slight. It would have made the first time a female directed a Marvel movie. It was a missed opportunity for everyone but it was how she said a few things that left the dad blogger attendees struggling to appreciate her full speech.
We're excited to point out that we have sponsorship packages available to make dad bloggers and brands happy. To be a part of the inaugural DaddyBlogging.com UNconference, use the CONTACT form or call 646-535-9865 today.
Here's a little bit of a recap from BlogHer15 from daddy bloggers' point-of-view:
Daddy Blogger of the Year NOMINEE Mitch Chaitin (@gaynycdad) was spotted in several places throughout the conference including making new friends as R&B sensation group Boyz II Men performed, getting his salsa on the dance floor as celebrity dad turned dee jay Nick "DJ Ncredible" Cannon spun like a master and enjoying Mickey Ds.
At the McDonald's Closing Party at the pier on Hudson River, picnic blankets and mini tables made the environment very summery and fun. Speaking of fun, the decision to serve dinner in Happy Meals to adults - complete with several different versions of "MINONS" was an act of genius! What dad doesn't love fries but FREE fries!?! We were in love.
